Cracking Up

Yesterday I sprayed you with a spray bottle and you thought it was SO FUNNY. You were cracking up and laughing for a really long time.

It was absolutely adorable. You laugh quite a bit, but this was the longest I've ever seen you laugh (it went much longer than this video length).

A couple times I got you right in the face. Not so funny, mom. Not so funny.

Falling Over

You still aren't very good at sitting up by yourself, but you are getting better at it. Today you were sitting up all alone for a minute. I got so excited and started taking pictures!

But then you saw me. You looked up and smiled, then started to tip....
Fell a little further (while still smiling)....

And then hit the floor. I didn't get the final picture of you on the floor because you were pretty sad and I wanted to cheer you up instead.

Friends

We have a lot of great friends out here. We're so lucky because we have friends with babies just about your age. Yesterday several of our friends came over to play (Christen and Henry, Eve and Alex, Michelle and Gabbi, and Tristen and Harrison). I forgot to take pictures! But you were all so cute playing together.

Today Henry came over and played with us with Christen went to the dentist. You two were happy to sit and play with toys.

Looking Out the Window

You love to sit in the Bumbo and look out the window. It's an extra bonus if I put you close enough to play with the blinds.

Figuring out Moving

You want to move so badly! You wiggle, kick, and push trying to get places, and you get so mad when you can't get where you want to go.

You're pretty good at moving around. You can scoot backwards really well. In this picture, you started out laying by the gold strip that leads into the kitchen. You flipped over and scooted underneath the chair.

You can also spin around on your belly. In this picture, you started on the pink blanket (with little green frogs) with your head pointing in the opposite direction.

I try to get before and after pictures, but you're just too quick!

Just recently you've started pushing harder to get yourself going. This results in a push-up, plank position. In this picture you're up on your toes and hands, just trying to move forward.

It's still not working! But don't worry, baby, you'll get there soon.

You've also realized that you can work hard and wiggle your way out of places. Specifically, you keep trying to wiggle your way out of your bouncer.

When you're sitting in your bouncer in most of the house you try to wiggle your way out. However, when you're in the bathroom sitting in your bouncer will I shower you're perfectly content to look at the lights and play with the shower curtain or towels.

Daddy's Little Girl

Daddy's Bad Day

The other day, daddy had a bad day at work. So you and I went to the store and got him a treat to cheer him up. To show him what he had waiting for him at home, we sent him this picture:

Drooling Baby

You drool SO MUCH now. You don't have any teeth yet, but they must be coming soon.

This picture shows how drooly your chin can get, and shows off your cute dress. Thanks for the dress, Grandma and Grandpa Kartchner!

Bumbo

We borrowed a Bumbo from the Hamiltons to help you sit up by yourself. As long as you have something to play with while you sit in it you love it!

Sleeping Position

You've started sleeping on your tummy with your little bum up in the air.

Getting Into Everything

When you were about 5 months old, you started scooting around to reach out and grab things close to you. We have to start being careful with what we leave near you. Like the plate my lunch was on...

And one day I put my diaper bag a little too close to you. You scooted over:

Started digging through:

Found a receipt and starting sucking on it.
You're a funny little monkey.

Picnic

Daddy and I took you out on a picnic. We ate sandwiches while you looked around at the trees and grass.

Mommy's Brainwashing

I'm brainwashing you early to love museums just like I do!

Happy 4th of July

On your first 4th of July you wore a cute little outfit to church. You got grumpy and needed to go to bed before the fireworks started. But that's ok, we'll see them next year.

Thanks for the cute 4th of July outfit, Grandma Karen!

Bunny Slippers

You have the cutest little bunny slippers. They don't stay on your feet for very long because you like to play with them. But they keep your feet warm for a few minutes.

Solid Foods

You started eating your first solid foods just before you turned 5 months old. We bought you a high chair (I found it for $10 on craigslist!) and let you sit in it a little bit to get use to it.

Then I fed you some rice cereal mixed with milk. Your first couple bites were pretty funny because you got the funniest look on your face. There is just a cute face:

Here's a video of some of your first bites:

Yay for little Paige! Eating food from a spoon!

Starting to Crawl

You really want to be able to move. Ever since you learned how to roll onto your tummy you've been very impatient holding still.

You wiggle your arms and legs and try to push off the ground. You try really hard, but don't get place very quickly. Here's a video taken around 4.5 months of you trying to move.

Just before you were 5 months old you started to be able to scoot backwards. You would push off to try and go forward, but would move backward instead. One day you scooted sideways and got stuck under the couch!

You're mostly just eager to move. You aren't too interested in sitting up. But you can sit up if you're supported, like while sitting on daddy's lap:

Eastern Market

The Eastern Market is one of the longest running markets in the area. It first opened in 1873, and has (basically... in some form) been running every since. It's now a massive farmer's market and has it's own metro stop.

The Eastern Market was one of the first things we put on our To See in DC list last August. A few weeks ago we finally made it down there. Unfortunately, we didn't realize that the market booths were only out on weekends and we went on a Friday. So there were no booths set up, but we did see the market building, and we walked around the neighborhood a little. It wasn't what we were expecting, but it was still fun!

We had to ride the metro for a long time to get there. On the metro there was a man stand by us who had a beard, just like daddy's. You got really excited when you saw him and started grinning and kicking like you do when daddy is around.

Here are some pictures of our day.

Tanaya, Christen and Henry:

Me and You, Eve and Alex:

After walking around we went back to Christen's house and had a fabulous lunch (because Christen is an amazing cook) while the you and your friends played.

Henry and Alex playing with a large bucket of blocks:

You looking absolutely delighted to see Henry:

You and Alex, perhaps in some kind of showdown:

It was a long exciting day, and it wore you out. You curled up and fell asleep in Henry's crib:

And what was daddy doing during all of this? Working. Poor daddy. Thanks for working so hard, dad!
