You are getting so big very quickly! It's hard to keep up with it.


Your little face has gotten delightfully chubby and you've outgrown almost all of your newborn clothes and your bassinet. This is you sleeping in the bassinet for the last time:


This month you started smiling at us. You have such a charming smile. When you smile everything seems so much happier! I haven't gotten a picture of your full smile yet. I caught part of it once while you were on the changing table:


You're learning better control of your head and limbs. You're working on lifting your head and turning it side to side. You're getting better!



I put you on your tummy every day so you can work your muscles. Sometimes the workouts are just too tough and you fall right asleep:


You don't hate taking baths. I can't say you love it, but you don't hate it. After you bathe I like to put you in your bathrobe from Uncle Jeffy because you look so dang cute in it. Dad thinks you look like a boxer in it.


One of the best parts of our days is when Dad is home with us. He puts you up on his shoulder and walks around with you. You clutch onto him and peek over his shoulder to look at the world. I LOVE watching the two of you together.


Dad also likes to use you as a baby pillow. He fluffs you up and rests his head on you or beside you. It usually makes you smile really big.


Mostly you spend your awake time trying to figure the world out. You have the cutest quizzical look that you get when you're trying to figure something out. It looks a lot like Dad's quizzical look. The look in this picture is saying, "Mommy, why are you taking so many pictures of me?" My answer: "Because you are SO INCREDIBLY CUTE!"

You've gotten more control of your body so you're moving around more. We put you down somewhere and you love to wiggle around. So cute!

One month old already! Dad and I didn't sleep much for the first month, but we still loved having you around. We went to the pediatrician again for your one month check up. You're growing so well!

Height: 21 in (48%)
Weight: 9 lbs 3 oz (50%)
Head Circum: 13.75 in (65%)

You had to get a shot at this checkup. You were perfectly content until gave you the shot. You got a scared look on your face and started screaming. It was absolutely heartbreaking! I picked you up and held you for a minute and then fed you. You calmed down really quickly. You're so brave already!

Grandma and Grandpa Brison

Gramma and Grampa Brison flew out from Colorado to visit you. They were at our house from February 23 to March 3. They absolutely adore you. They loved to hold you and be with you.

Since I was still recovering from you being born and you were still so little (it was cold outside and still flu season) we mostly stayed in the house playing with you.

I gave you a sponge bath using your bathtub for the first time. Since I had never used it before I didn't lock it in place correctly. Water spilled out all over the carpet. Gramma and Grampa thought that was so funny.

We did go out a few times so Gramma and Grampa could see some of the DC sights. We drove around the monuments and visited a couple of museums.

You were not so happy when they went home to Colorado. You had gotten used to being held all of the time and wanted more of that. Hopefully they'll be able to come visit you again soon!

We went back to the pediatrician to do a measurement check on you. The doctor wanted to make sure that you were gaining weight and growing well. You were doing great!

We went to the pediatrician for a checkup. Here are your stats:

First Days at Home

Our first days at home with you were a little bit crazy. There was so much snow and the car wouldn't start so it made it difficult to get some of the things we needed. Dad had to walk through several feet of snow practically every day to go to the store and buy something for us. Lucky for us, Dad's classes were canceled because of the snow so he was around to help out.

What surprised us the most was how alert you were. We expected you to wake up to eat and then fall back asleep immediately. However, you would spend long periods of time looking around and drinking in the world.



You and I got the hang of breast feeding really quickly. You have a powerful suck and eat quickly. I love to watch your little face as you eat. You're absolutely adorable!
