I Got Naked!

Last night I went in to check on you before I went to bed and found you cuddled under your blanket, completely naked and completely soaking wet (we haven't even attempted night time potty training yet).  At some point before going to sleep you took off all your clothes and your diaper, climbed into bed and went to sleep.

Daddy and I got you cleaned up and put new bedding on the bed.  Then as I tried to get new pajamas on you, you started crying and screaming.  I realized that you didn't want to wear any clothes.  So we put you back in bed wearing just a diaper.

This morning you came into my room and woke me up with a big grin and said announced "I got naked!"

Then at nap time today, we went through the routine of getting you ready to sleep.  When it was almost time to climb into bed, you said very matter-of-factually "I'm going to take off my clothes now" and proceeded to strip down to your diapers and socks.

Apparently you've decided that sleeping naked is the way to go.

Funny Things 8/24

Funny things you've said lately:

Paige: *any of 8,000 questions you ask daily*
Mommy: Yes, ma'am.
Paige: No, I'm NOT a ma'am.  I'm a PAIGE.

Were we comparing our belly buttons, and you pointed to my tummy and said:
"Baby Quinn is in Mommy's tummy.  And Quinn's birthday is at November."

Mommy: Tomorrow we're going to drive a long time in the car and go to New York.
Paige: *thinks for a minute* We're going to Noah's Ark?
Mommy: No, to New York.
Paige: And it's not an ark?
Mommy: Nope, it's a city.
Paige: *confused* Oh.
Later in the day...
Mommy: Do you remember where we're going tomorrow?
Paige: We're going to New York, but it's not an ark.

Singing

In the past few days you've started singing what you're doing and it's HILARIOUS.  You just start narrating, through song, what's going on.  My two favorites:

We were driving home from New York and you drank a cup of yogurt juice.  After that was done I gave you a cup of water.  You started singing and as I listened to the words I heard:  "Mommy gave me water and not yogurt juice!"

This morning you found a box of band-aids and started singing: "I'm shaking the box of Charlie Brown band-aids"

Just totally ordinary descriptions of what's going on, but you sing them.  It's really funny.

Summertime

You sure are loving summer.  Daddy has been gone a lot because he's studying for the bar.  We've missed him a lot, but we've tried to keep busy.  One of your favorite things to do is go to a splash park that's about 20 minutes away from us.  You love to splash in the water and play at the water tables.  You don't really like some of the bigger sprays, but you have a ton of fun there.

You playing at the water tables:

Gabbi sharing one of her toys with you:

Right by the spray park there's a big playground that you like to play on.

You also LOVE to go swimming.  You beg and beg to go swimming almost every day.  We go to the pool a lot.  There's a big pool and a little pool and you like playing in them both (in fact you insist on swimming in both of them each time we're there).  You didn't really like the big pool at first, but you've been really brave and gotten used to it.  The last time we were there you even decided you wanted to try going under water.  You held your nose while I dunked you, and you LOVED it.  After that you insisted on going under again and again and again.

We do love summer!

I'm All Done With This Part!

While we were out running errands we stopped at the grocery store and I bought a chocolate donut with sprinkles that I wanted to eat as soon as we got in the car. You asked for some, so I gave you a piece of it.  I drove on with you chatting contentedly about the donut in the backseat.  After a few minutes, you said "I'm all done with this part!"  I looked back and you were holding out the piece of donut to me.  It was all slobbery (because you had licked all the chocolate and sprinkles off) and you were covered in chocolate smears.  You had chocolate all over your face, arms and legs.

I took the piece of donut from you and of course you said "I want some more!"

More Funny Things

You just continue to crack me up all the time.  Things you said today:

You have a magnetic princess set, where you can dress up Cinderella and Belle in dresses and accessories.  You were trying to get me to come play with you and so you said "Mommy, come do princesses.  They're NOT MODEST!"

I opened a desk drawer that holds pens, etc in it and you saw a plastic Minnie Mouse in there that had apparently fallen in there.
Paige: Oh, there's Minnie in there!
Mommy: How silly! What was she doing in there?
Paige:  Maybe she was eating some pens.

Funny Things

We walked up to our car in the parking lot and you said:
"Oh there's our car!" *looks at it for a minute* "Our car is dirty."

We were putting a red shirt on you.
Mommy: What color is your shirt?
*gets mischievous look on face*
Paige: Brown! (laughs like it's the funniest joke in the world).
Mommy: It's not brown. What color is it really?
Paige: Red!

Mommy: Are you hungry in your tummy?
Paige: No, in my mouth!

Picks up dental floss: I have gentle floss!

I walked into your bedroom and found you clapping.  You kept clapping then stopped and said "N-G-O" then kept clapping.  Then you looked at me and said "I'm singing FINGO!"

You were crying the other night and I went into your room and asked what was wrong.  You stopped wailing long enough to say "I need a little bit of milk!"

We got rid of your binkies the other day.  You threw them away and got a big Cinderella doll as a reward.  You've been very mature about it (mostly) and keeping bragging to people "I threw my binkies in the trash, and I got a big Cinderella!"

Arboretum

One day while I was working you got to go to the Arboretum with Christen and Henry.  Christen said you had a lot of fun climbing on the tree stumps and being with friends.

Preschool at the Zoo

We went on a fun trip to the zoo with our preschool group.  You LOVED the zebras the most and the whole trip you kept begging to go back to see them.

Paige, Gabbi, Henry, Abby

Climbing on the bear statue.

Checking out the elephant.  You thought this was pretty cool too.

Georgetown

Today we went on last minute trip down to Georgetown with Christen and Henry. We walked along the main street in Georgetown.

And then we stopped and got a cupcake at Georgetown Cupcake.

Then we walked down to the waterfront and ate the cupcake there. We got a Lemon Berry cupcake.

You loved the candy on top and the pink frosting, but refused to eat any of the cake (you still won't eat any cake or bread). You kept saying "want more pink, please!"

We let you guys run around by the water for awhile. Christen, Henry and I walked a lot faster than you. Every now and then we'd turn around and say "come on, Paige!" and Henry would yell "Paige!" When you caught up to us, you kept turning around and yelling "Paige!" just like Henry did. It was pretty funny.

We went down and sat right by the water and saw some ducks. They got so close to us! You and Henry were pretty skeptical of the "birdies".

You thought they were pretty cool, but did not want to get anywhere near them. One of the ducks pooped on the sidewalk and you and Henry thought that was pretty hilarious. You just kept laughing and laughing at it.

Dancing Duck

This Easter season the grocery store was selling this silly duck that sings about the Easter Bunny come.  You loved watching that duck sing and dance.  As we were leaving the store you always wanted to stop and watch him sing and dance a couple of times.

Shenandoah National Park

We took one day during Spring Break and went to Shenandoah National Park. We really wanted to camp (in fact we packed up the car with all our camping gear...) but it turned out that the campsites weren't open. So we didn't camp (you were kind of confused. We told you we were going camping, so when we got out of the car and were walking the park you kept asking "I camping?"). But we did hike (even though it was pretty windy and cold), drive through the park (which was delightful crowd free) and have a nice picnic lunch.

On the way:

I love the hands buried in your pockets:

Ready to hike:

It was really cold:

Groovin' With Daddy

Sometimes you just have to stop and groove.

February 23, 2012

While You Were Napping...

Every day before nap time we clean up all the toys in your room.  The other day I put you down for your nap and after a little while went in to check on you.  This is what I found:

You were fast asleep and all sorts of toys and clothes were scattered everywhere.  It made me laugh and I couldn't help snapping a few pictures of the mayhem you had created.

Daddy Horse

Under the "C"

Yesterday at preschool we talked about things that are found under the sea (fish, whales, seaweed, treasure chests, etc.). Today you showed me a picture of a treasure chest and said:

"Treasure box. Under the sea. cuh! cuh!"

I didn't understand why you were making the "cuh" noise until you clarified:

"C says cuh!"

Then I realized what you were thinking:

"Treasure box. Under the C"

Potty

You pooped on the potty for the first time today! You willing pee on the potty (you've been doing that for almost a year now) but today was the first time you've pooped there. You're such a big girl!

New Trains

You really love toy trains. Grandma and Grandpa Brison got you a train set for your birthday. It has train tracks, train cars, and a couple animals that ride in the cars. You love setting it up and playing with it.

February 13, 2012

Big Turtle

These pictures were taken at the play place at Tyson's Corner Mall.  You love coming here and playing.  Your favorite part is the giant turtle (at least I assume that's your favorite part since you talk about it the most) and whenever I say we're going to the mall you get really excited about seeing the Giant Turtle.

Taking Care of Baby

Our good friends gave you a fun play set for your birthday that had a bunch of gear for your baby dolls. You loved it the second you opened it and started taking care of your baby doll right away.

February 4, 2012

Two Years Old!

Your prayer today (you can say full prayers by yourself):

"Heavenly Father, Thank you for my birthday. In name of Jesus Christ, amen."

Today is your birthday and it blows my mind with how smart and big you've gotten.

You're extremely independent and like to do things by yourself. If given the choice "should Paige do it, or should mommy do it?" your answers is (almost) always "Paige do it!" You insist on walking most place (instead of being carried), putting your shoes on, climbing into your car seat, climbing up on the potty, eating, drinking, and putting your coats on by yourself (you do many many other things by yourself too).

Even with all your independence, you're incredibly obedient. You'll (almost) always do what we ask you to do (even though it sometimes takes us asking you a few times to do it). You put away your toys when we ask you to, you give up objects when we ask for them, and you stop doing something naughty when we ask you to. You respond very quickly when we telling you you're doing something naughty (and usually give us a little grin too). You do, of course, throw tantrums sometimes when you aren't getting what you want, but for the most part you're a sweet little girl.

You say "please" and "thank you" almost all the time. You're so polite! You love to eat good foods (including most fruits and vegetables), but you are not at all interested in eating sandwiches or bread (unless it's toast). You've discovered that you love candies (frequently asking "more candies please!"), cookies, and ice cream but you are not at all interested in cake.

You are incredibly smart, love to learn, and love to know the answers. You know all of your capital letters and most of the lower case letters (you still mix up a few of them like "q" and "g" and "b" and "d"). You know all of the letter's sounds (D say duh). You can count to 12 with no mistakes, and can count to 20 with only a few mistakes. You know most of the shapes (circle, square, triangle, octagon, pentagon, hexagon, rectangle, diamond, heart, oval, start, arrow) and love to identify shapes everywhere.

You LOVE books still. You've learned several of your books, so if we don't read them right you'll correct us and if we leave our lines you'll say them. One of the funniest you do is in a Winnie the Pooh book:
Mommy: "Pooh woke one morning with a rumbly in his tumbly"
Paige: "Oh bother!"
Mommy: "Pooh said"
We read a lot of stories every day because you love them so much. You've started taking books to bed with you at night and during naps. You look through the books as you're in bed falling asleep.

You also love songs. You frequently insist that we sing specific songs you. You've also recently started singing the songs yourself. I've heard you sing (all the way through and by yourself):
Baa Baa Black Sheep
Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star
Happy Birthday
The ABC Song
Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam
You can also fill in words on a lot of other songs (I sing them, stopping at certain words that you fill in) including:
Give Said the Little Stream
The Cannibal King
Mary Had a Little Lamb

You love going to church and nursery. We have a book of pictures of Jesus that you look through during the sacrament, and sometimes I tell you the stories that go along with the pictures. The first picture in the book is of Jesus at the last supper preparing the sacrament. Now you open the book and say "Jesus sacrament."

You are an absolutely delight and we love having you around.

Happy 2nd Birthday little Paige!

Your Birthday

You turned 2 this year.  I can't believe how older you're getting!!  You were excited to have a birthday and especially loved opening presents:

You got some princess shoes from Grandma Kartchner, and the SECOND you opened them you insisted on putting them.

You were also really excited about the candles on the cake.  On your actual birthday we put a couple of candles on the cake leftover from my birthday the day before.  We were going to have a party the day for you and figured we'd have your full cake then.

Here are the cakes for our birthday party.  Your cake is the one with ladybugs and you LOVED it.

Unfortunately, you got sick and spiked a crazy fever the next day so we couldn't have our party.  So we just ate lots of cake.

Funny Things You've Done Lately

You were sitting on top of Daddy who was laying on the couch. Daddy said "are you treating daddy like a couch?" and you said "Daddy not couch. Daddy big girl."

We were driving on our way to McDonalds and stopped at a light right by Chipotle. You saw Chipotle and said:
Paige: "Quesadilla!"
Mommy: "How about some chicken nuggets?"
Paige: "Um, beans!"
Mommy: "How about some french fries?"
Paige: "Um, rice!"
So we went to Chipotle.

It always cracks me up when you repeat some of the phrases that I use all of the time like:
"Sounds good!"
"Ok, let's do this!"

We had alphabet soup the other day and you went CRAZY. You were SO excited to find letters in your soup and ask for "letters soup" at most meals.

If anything on you hurts you insist on us kissing it. One of the funniest: "Bum hurts! Kiss it!"

Paige Say Prayer

Yesterday we were driving in the car. Here's our conversation:

Paige: Paige say prayer
Mommy: Ok, go ahead and say a prayer.
Paige: Heavenly Father, thank you for park. Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

You do love the park. =)

Comfy!

I was making dinner one night and you came in (naked of course, because that's how you like to be) to the kitchen, put your pillow on the floor, then laid down on it and said "Comfy!"

Clemyjontri Park

We had an unseasonably warm winter this year, so we were able to get outside a bit.  We headed with playgroup out to a huge, really fun park.  You had so much fun exploring everything.

You liked being able to climb all over things.

You were really brave and went across a bridge (lots and lots of times).

You'd never really climbed ladders before, so you were kind of holding on for dear life.

Going for a ride with Gabbi:

You LOVED the teeter-totter:

It was fun to get out and get some fresh air!
